William (Bill) Dolan, Esq. is the President of, and a practicing attorney with, Dolan Law LLC and an Adjunct Professor at Delaware Law School. Prior to practicing law, Bill founded and managed numerous start-ups, most of which were in the lending, title/settlement agent, and real estate fields, which is why Bill’s primary practice areas revolve around business, real estate, and lending transactions.

Immediately prior to starting Dolan Law LLC, Bill was a practicing attorney at Richards, Layton and Finger P.A. (RLF), which is the largest law firm in Delaware and one of the most prestigious corporate law firms in the United States. While at RLF, Bill worked in the LLC and Trust departments where he worked under and with many of the attorneys who drafted and worked each year to improve the LLC and Trust statues in the State of Delaware. Bill’s practice at RLF was particularly focused on the formation and structuring of LLCs and trusts in business transactions, including series LLCs and series trusts.

Practice Areas:

Currently, Bill’s primary practice areas are Corporate/Business Law, Real Estate Law, and Private Lending.

He has formed thousands of business entities, including LLCs, corporations, and business trusts. Sometimes these formations are a single entity with a start-up that has a minimal budget. Sometimes the formations consist of re-structuring substantial business assets of clients and forming dozens of business entities. Bill also provides as needed advice, document drafting, and negotiation services to clients and acts as an outside in-house counsel to a dozen or so clients, who have significant legal needs but not enough to justify hiring a full-time in-house attorney.

He has also helped clients purchase, sell, and finance thousands of properties. Although Bill’s real estate business background and real estate law practice provides a unique value to real estate investors, he also works with consumers to buy and sell residential properties.

Bill currently represents dozens of lenders on lending matters. Although most of his clients are private lenders lending to real estate investors and business owners, he also represents some banks making commercial loans.

Media and Public Speaking:

In 2020, Bill started Esquire Advice, which is a YouTube channel where Bill provides no cost advice on a variety of LLC, corporation, real estate, and private lending topics. The purpose is to provide important foundational information to clients, prospective clients, and other inquiring minds. There are currently dozens of episodes available to the generally public.

Bill is a regular speaker for the Delaware Real Estate Investors Association, LLC. He has spoken at more than 20 in person events to thousands of attendees. Bill has also presented continuing education seminars to thousands of Certified Public Accounts. He has been a regular speaker for the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce at its Small Business Bootcamps.

Over the years, Bill has appeared on television and been heard on the radio over 50 times as an expert on a variety of matters.

Professional Associations:

Bill has served on the Pennsylvania Bar Association Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, and he is currently a member of the Real Estate, Corporate, and employment law Sections of the Delaware State Bar Association, and is a member of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association.

Bill is licensed to practice law in the States of Delaware and New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Education:

Bill graduated from Rutgers School of Law—Newark magna cum laude, was a member of its Law Review and Moot Court Board, interned for the Honorable Novalyn L. Winfield in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, and was a research assistant and teaching associate for the Legal Research and Writing department.
